American Idol bug bit me big time

Like most of you, the idol bug also bit me big time today. If you check my Facebook wall today, May 17, 2012, it was totally dedicated to American Idol semi-finals results where Jessica Sanchez and Philip Philips were chosen to collide on the finale Tuesday night next week.

Joshua gave a good fight but unfortunately, his fan base was not that huge to topple that of Jessica and Philip. It was just too enormous to beat.

And on Tuesday, we will see which of the 2 will be crowned as the American Idol of Season 11. My take is that, if all the influential international celebs like Beyonce, Billy Joel, Apl d Ap, Tony Motola, and Akon will turn their admiration into votes, then Jessica will be the next American Idol.

As per Jessica's semi-finals performance, her cover for I don't want to miss a thing, strongly reminded me of her fellow Filipina diva Regine Velasquez version of the same song. I posted a video montage on my own YouTube account as a tribute to the two great performers although I just focused on the ending part of the song.

I just do hope Jessica will choose a knock-out song on the finale. As Jimmy Iovine has emphasized, that JS should select a song that will have a spectacular moment, for that will count how America will translate their votes in the finale.

Lenten reflections - Holy Thursday

Yesterday, which was a Holy Thursday, my family attended a Recollection at our Parish shrine. Rev. Fr. Mario Jose C. Ladra was our speaker and boy was he a good one!

The overall message of the recollection is that by God's grace coupled with our decision, we can uproot the causes of our family inherited diseases, bad habits and even misfortunes. God does not cause our sickness and misfortunes but He allows it to happen for the greater good of a person whom He loves. It's true that bad things happen to good people and it's the person's attitude which will define how he can get out of it and become a better person.

Father Mario further expounded by giving true to life stories on how people were freed from their sickness. He mentioned that a woman with stage 4 breast cances was totally healed just because Fr. Mario asked her to forgive her cheating husband. A woman who fell 12 feet from her condominium floor suffered multiple organ and bone fractures, is now progressively being healed just because she continuously testifies the goodness of God who allowed her to survive the deadly fall.

I noted what Father mentioned is the process on how to cut the chains and bondages in our family:

We all came out from the recollection confident and hopeful that whatever chains and curses that bound our families for generations are now cut because we have decided to confess our sins, stopped being supersticious, forgave and prayed over.

Thank you Lord for this grace of healing....I love you!

Top 12 Kapamilya and Kapuso Leading Ladies

My 10 silly beliefs

Is it just me or there are also other people out there who shares my silly beliefs:

1. If I do good on anything on a Monday, or start the week right, I will make it good the entire week.

2. Nightmares come true and they are warnings of what is to come so I'm careful on how I spend my day.

3. I carry a prayer book in my wallet or a rosary in my pocket; well this is not really silly - I consider this my faith. 

 4. If I bet on the lottery, I pick random numbers while I'm on queue, confident that the numbers that enter my mind will be the winning numbers. 

 5. When I think of calamities like a plane crash, an earthquake or death it will actually happen.

6. I try not to leave my wallet empty because that would mean losing money fast all the time.

7. When I ride a plane and during its take off, I always have a feeling that the plane will explode or crash at a low altitude.

8. When I say the grace before I eat, I believe that there is a light from heaven that shields my food to safety - again this is my faith.

9. Everytime I drive very fast, I have a feeling that a tire will burst.

 10. The number 13 is an unlucky number.

Except for numbers 3 and 8, the rest of my silly thoughts are as I put it...silly! When these silly ideas enter my thoughts, I immediately cast them out in Jesus' name and replace them with the belief that nothing occurs by chance and that things are under the sovereign control of God. Either He causes or allows everything in keeping with His divine plan  (Acts 4:28; Ephesians 1:10).
